Are Madeleine's Parents Really Guilty? Questions that Bug Me

Are Madeleine McCann's parents really guilty of her murder/accidental death? Or are they victims of a flawed Portuguese justice system? All of the recent news of the past 24 hours just makes one's head spin. Would her parents really be in front of the Pope while hiding the fact they had killed their own child? And why did it take so long to talk to them as suspects? And why was the rental car they rented 25 days after Maddy's disappearance so suspect? Will the Portuguese Police confirm any of this that has come out from the family's spokeswoman? And what about all you readers of this blog who keep coming here searching for items about Madeleine's parents giving her sleeping pills? I get many hits here per day, yet the first I've even heard this heresay was yesterday on our news.

Update - Now that her parents have left Portugal for England, what does this mean? Are they going to stay away from Portugal now, or just securing the twins before they press on?

There are too many questions here and too few answers for everyone. I remain devoted to the hope that this will come a better end that it looks now.

If they are not suspects and if the child disapeard in Portugal, why are they leaving the country this sunday? i think they fear something and tey intend to avoid the portuguese justice.

My question is simply, who was in possession of the rental car when the girl did disappear? --Not so much 25 days later.

Crazy- I can't even wrap my brain around someone harming their own child!

@ellen,

Even if something went terribly wrong and it was an accident.

I saw the news last night that they were charged as suspects. I just can't believe that.

I heard they found the girl's blood in the car, but how much? I mean, anyone with children knows, sometimes they pick scabs open or have a little bloody nose, or whatever.

If the parents are innocent then I can't imagine the pain of first losing your child in such a controversial situation, and then to top it off, being accused of murdering her. Not only would it ruin your reputation but to know the police are that far off track and wasting precious time...

:( Still hoping she's returned home safely.

even if it was an accident I still can't wrap my brain around it! it would be horrible, too much for me to handle that's for sure!

The police should make an effort to get hair samples, from all three children. They could potentially reveal a pattern of sedation, or hopefully rule it out.

Anyone with common sense would know that the entire situation was weird from the beginning and with lots of inconsistencies. First of all Kate McCann looks guilty, she has hardly showed any tears in public let alone the typical anxiety that parents show. Both of the parents are highly educated control freaks. With Doctor salaries it would have been very affordable for them to hire a nanny or even use a monitoring system. What is most amazing is that the mother looks guilty. Even when she was in front of the POPE she looked guilty. They have made every statement to divert attention from their resort flat all the time. Admitting to this accidental death would have cost them their jobs and children. OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE: THEY DID IT AND THEY HID HER. Yes, they killed her because it is known that Kate McCann was keen on winning that night a quiz contest at the resort which they anticipated all week, most likely maddie was acting up and wouldnt go to sleep, she drugged her (kate is an anesthesiologist) and later when she went to check on her they realize she died of an overdose, both of them hid her body most likely in the AC conduct to their room as it would have kept the body cool and later on disposed of her. THEY WILL PAY FOR THIS HEINOUS CRIME. ASSASSINS!!

LOL, Anonymous!

"Anyone with common sense" would wonder why you seem to know a lot about how someone would kill a child and hide the body.... hmmm... "looks" bad.

All anyone here is doing is asking questions. Legitimate questions, and they're being asked on both sides. Should we not ask them, just accept what the police say and skip a trial and hang them now?

No one has said they're innocent or guilty - nearly every comment uses the word "If" or offers a constructive suggestion for reaching the truth.

And judging someone by how they "look" after their child has gone missing is perhaps the most ludicrous 'proof' offered so far. I'd hate to think about how I might 'look' if one of my kids went missing.

Dial it back, there's no need to be so inflammatory. Nobody here has said "yea verily, go free".

could there have been a possible accident, like madeleine taking sedatives herself thinking they were sweets, she is 4 after all, and that results in her death. then her parnets come back to find her dead from overdose. they then try to cover it up in fear for their jobs and lifestyle because of thier careless mistake. They then create a story of abduction, wihich just happens to have a coincidence with 3 years ago when another girl was abducted 7 miles away. There are so many questions to ask, and possible answers to every one.Tho they do act suspicous wen they have washed the best link ot evidence of madeleines DNA and they carry it round with them everywhere, a possible sympathy act.and they have already lied to the whole world, so lieing to the pope is a simple feat. reply to this comment if u wish to talk more about madeleines case.

There are still too many questions to ponder - I still wonder, if she is alive, how, with this world-wide publicity, no one has delivered a credible clue?
