Now the latest health news says that feeding kids diet foods may make them fat. They act like this is all a new thing! Of course it isn't! Anyone who can read a box can see that when you reduce fat in the recipe, they typically increase the sugar content!
Boy, there's been a lot in the news today about keeping kids thinner, by increasing their activity levels and getting them to eat the right foods. The news was also plastered this a.m. with how our children are being ruined by McDonalds.
I remember being in the 4th grade (a long, long, time ago....) and begging to go to the new McDonald's that opened right outside our elementary school! Mom was adament that this would only be a once-in-a-while special treat. She managed to keep it that way, despite our protests. Now, my little one begs to go to Mickey D's EVERY time we get in the car to go anywhere. And....a lot of the time, I give in and so does Tim! We take advantage of the convenience and not much of the time do we order the apples, instead of the fries! On the positive side, both kids are in dance and they do sports, like soccer. But we really have to work at it!
